Massif de Saint-Thierry
Chartogne-Taillet is a Champagne producer deeply anchored in the village of Merfy, where centuries of tradition and close observation of nature guide every aspect of their work. Inspired by the Benedictine monks of the Abbey of Saint-Thierry, the estate continues the practice of identifying and cultivating individual vineyard parcels, or lieux-dits, each with its own geological character. This connection to the land shapes their philosophy, which focuses on responding to the needs of the vines and working with minimal intervention to let the terroir speak clearly through the wines.
The Taillet family's winemaking history dates back to 1490, with written records from the early 1700s that reflect a deep dedication to viticulture and village life. Today, the family remains committed to this legacy by embracing traditional methods, including working the soil by hand or with horses. Their wines are shaped by texture, salinity, and length, offering a genuine expression of place. Chartogne-Taillet does not rely on certifications, but instead on generations of knowledge and a passion for preserving the flavors and identity of their land in every bottle.
